COVID: Our Lockdown in Shanghai
1 x 60'
This remarkable documentary reveals the human reality of life under lockdown in China.
Over two months, filmmaker Yu Kung and his wife Crystal Liu filmed their neighbors in their Shanghai apartment block, as they came to terms with the emotional, economic and psychological impact of living in isolation and undergoing restrictions due to the Coronavirus pandemic.
From a doctor, lawyer and teacher to cleaners and security guards, the characters represent a diverse cross-section of Chinese society in extraordinary circumstances. The lockdown has seen some families separated, whereas others are spending more time together than ever before. All of them have seen their lives change as a result.
The result is the intimate and authentic story of one apartment block, in one city, living through one of the most dramatic events in world history.
