Africa from Cape to Kruger (5 x 43 minutes)

When in summer 2010 the strongest football nations of the world meet in South Africa, this part of the world will be the meeting point of different cultures. But not for the first time…Diversity is reflected in the history of this country like in no other. Same is true for its flora and fauna.
The South African nature is incomparable in its diversity. The beauty of the cape with it’s blossom fields and rough coasts, the penguins, fur seals and white sharks the fascinating moonlike Kalahari desert as well as the astonishing diversity of the bush with its elephants, lions and springboks are to be found no where else. South Africa is a country like no other.
The Adventurer
Andreas Kieling is one of the most well-known German wildlife filmmakers. He will undertake this journey to explore, landscape, nature and the people of South Africa.
He‘s not visiting the region as a tourist; he takes it in and explores it. Whether he is rock climbing, paragliding, abseiling or diving, the extremes of this country will challenge the adventurer.
Tour through South Africa
It’s late summer and Andreas takes his time to explore one of the most spectacular regions of the world. His tour takes him along the three thousand kilometres stretch of coast, which he in-between interrupts with stops in the outback.
He begins his journey at the outermost point of the West cape, where the Namaqualand is coined by the cool Benguela Current. This is where the heat of the continent and the cold Arctic Ocean current meet.
His journey continues along the cape, all the way up to the East, to the Indian Ocean and the tropical wild coast. Finally he will arrive at the Kruger National Park one of South Africa’s famous landmarks.
In between Andreas meets locals who enable him a unique insight into their world. He will go hunting with bushmen and explore the bush side by side with scientists. His special interest also belongs to the many Europeans, which escaped the narrowness of their home country to follow their dreams of a free live at the Cape.
