Ocean Rescue is the story of a dedicated team of marine experts, whom risk their lives saving our sick, injured, trapped and orphaned marine animals.
Presenter David Whitehill introduces us to Australian marine expert Trevor Long and seasoned veterinarian David Blyde – as they respond to critical cases in the warm ocean waters off the nation’s east coast.
When marine animals become trapped, injured, sick or are orphaned, the men take these dangerous challenges head on.
The range of cases involves vastly different marine animals, so is the level of danger but all of them require an enormous degree of knowledge, experience and courage.
From the beautiful humpback whales that migrate north but get entangled and face drowning in shark nets – to a critically endangered shark who faces starvation because it has a large fishing hook stuck in its mouth – no challenge is too big for Ocean Rescue.
The team also battles to rescue and rehabilitate diverse wildlife – from seals, dolphins and turtles to sea snakes. It’s a chance to see a world most humans would normally never have the chance to explore.
The viewer learns much more than ever expected about animal habitats, behaviours and their status in a world of ever depleting species.
The inspiring program also reminds us how people and pollution pose an increasing risk to marine life but offers practical ways we can help our underwater friends.
Ocean Rescue entertains and informs and gives us hope for all marine life that face serious trouble in our oceans.
