Sumo Story offers a very rare glimpse into the mysterious and sheltered world of Japanese sumo wrestling. To the outside world, Sumo may seem like it is just a sport but to the Japanese, sumo wrestling is a unique tradition that dates back more than a thousand years. Co-produced with TV Man Union, BS Asahi and the Sumo Association, Sumo Story will offer viewers an unusual compelling view of the history of sumo, its links to samurai and emperors, and its changing role amidst the changing culture in modern Japan today.
