OFF THE FENCE PRODUCES PREGNANCY DOCUMENTARY
Off The Fence (OTF) has produced a special 1x60’ documentary Obese and Expecting, about four obese expectant mothers, for Discovery-owned US network TLC.
Filmed at hospitals in Queens, New Jersey, Houston and Los Angeles, the documentary follows obese pregnant women through their private lives, trials and tribulations. The programme will chronicle their health crises, weight gain and relationship struggles as they strive to deliver healthy babies.
The documentary goes inside the women’s homes and lives as their relationships with their husbands, parents, friends and children bear the brunt of this emotionally and physically exhausting process. The cameras follow the women from their first consultation, through their pregnancy and the birth itself and up until they leave with their babies.
The UK premiere of Obese and Expecting will air on Home and Health on July 12th at 9pm, and will follow the US launch on TLC on 17th May at 9pm EST. The special will also air within Discovery Networks International’s portfolio of global lifestyle networks across Europe, Middle East, Africa, Asia-Pacific and Latin America.
Ellen Windemuth, CEO, Off The Fence said: “This exciting documentary challenges the perception of obese women’s pregnancies. It gives insight into the challenges these women face, no matter what their size or complications, and the support and guidance they need to get through their pregnancies to deliver healthy babies. The film is fascinating, emotional and informative”.
Obese and Expecting was executive produced by Ellen Windemuth at Off the Fence and the manager of production was NaToya Goldman at TLC.
Elsewhere, Sperm Donor, a one-hour special produced by Off The Fence and which aired on Style Network in September 2011, has been nominated for a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Special Class Special Category. The winners will be announced in June 2012.
