Episode Information
Out of Control explores the science and ingenuity involved in stopping dangerous machines when they go wrong and the measures that can be taken and systems in place to stop an Out of Control machine or vehicle. Each new event helps engineers to improve ways in which these machines can be stopped and minimise the resulting damage. We see dramatic archival footage of actual out of control machine, and test footage from manufacturers that who how their technology who work in worst case scenarios. There is focus on specific types of machine; cars, trucks and planes for example. We learn about the technology available to stop some of the most dangerous and powerful out of control machines in the world. As technology progresses, designers have prepared limited safeguards against a potential failure to stop machinery or vehicles – and in some cases save lives.
