Tragedy In Amish Country
1 x 60'
It seemed like a virus spreading across the United States, gunfire erupting at schools and innocent children being victimized, from Jonesboro, Arkansas to Littleton, Colorado.
If there was any place in America where one could feel safe from the turmoil, surely it was in the bucolic farmlands of central Pennsylvania, amongst the Amish religious community that had largely turned its back on the ways of the modern world.
But on 2nd October 2006, a lone gunman named Charles Roberts entered a one-room Amish schoolhouse in Lancaster County, killed five young girls, and wounded several others.
In this harrowing film, we trace the collision course that evolved between Roberts and the Amish community, and reveal how a little known heartbreak which occurred in the gunman’s past helped to spark a national tragedy.
