Mind Of A Giant 1 x 60'
What is it like to be an elephant? This series reveals revolutionary new research which attempts to answer that question. As a team of scientists struggle to find out how many elephants are left in Africa, they happen upon evidence of some intriguing new behaviour: in order to survive, the elephants are learning to pass information between themselves. Clearly the African elephant is much smarter than we ever realised. This series shows how elephants co-operate and problem-solve. The next question is: do they have consciousness? They certainly exhibit many signs we might consider conscious: empathy, grief, joy, fear and revengefulness. Is this the discovery that confirms that elephants should be considered alongside the great apes, dolphins and whales as one of the cleverest and most complex creatures on the planet?
