Carriers At War
4 x 60'
A new class of aircraft carriers set sail in 2016, starting with the USS Gerald Ford. It’s the first new aircraft carrier design since the USS Nimitz in 1968. It’s only the fourth class in aircraft carrier history. But how does the Navy update a ship that already is one of the most dominant crafts in military history? Today’s Navy faces very different challenges compared to their Cold War era counterparts. Conflicts are smaller and regional. Terrorism impacts not only our allies’ sovereignty but the security of the United States. The US still needs to project force far from our shores. America’s carrier fleet does just that. This is a journey aboard some of the world’s most advanced military vehicles, and a floating city in its own right. Two days on board are never the same, and action and excitement is never far away.
