Golden Age Of Zeppelins, The
Golden Age Of Zeppelins, The 1 x 30'
Before 6th May, 1937, German zeppelins ruled the air.

It was an idyllic time in aviation history. 70 years ago the only way to travel was by airship – and the Graf Zeppelin was top dog. Giant gas-filled balloons longer than three Boeing 747s romanced the public’s imagination and became the height of luxury for long-distance air travel.

But in 1937, the most elaborate and luxurious zeppelin of them all, Hindenburg, burst into flames and crashed while docking in New Jersey. The zeppelin would never recover its commercial appeal, and with the advent of safer, faster, more regular aeroplane travel, it floated into the history books.

Through archival footage and photographs, historical illustrations, HD video and interviews with aviation experts, we explore the brief, spectacularly opulent Age of the Zeppelin, as we travel aboard the Graf Zeppelin and one of the largest aircraft ever built, the Hindenburg.
