The world-renowned author Mario Vargas Llosa lives in London. For many years he has ranked among South America‘s most successful and esteemed writers. His work has been translated into more than 20 languages. In 1976 he was elected President of the International PEN – a recognition of the worldwide applause his novels have received. These days Vargas Llosa is working on his new novel in London. But what makes this city important to him?
Llosa still works with the same discipline he had 25 years ago when he got by teaching Spanish and doing translations. He has published ten novels, short stories, plays and political essays as well as a book about Flaubert. He has also published an analysis of his admired colleague Gabriel Garcia Marquez, who is at enmity with him in private as well as in political opinion.
