Chilean Mine Rescue
Chilean Mine Rescue 1 x 60'
During the late summer of 2010, the world watched in horror as a drama unfolded that gripped the imagination and called upon astonishing feats of engineering science and human endurance. Subterranean endeavour has always had associated risks, but this story uniquely evolved into a celebration of resilience and creativity under pressure.

This special combines first person accounts, original footage, graphics, animation and dramatic recreation to tell the story of the 69 days. 3D graphics detail the structure of the mine, investigating the cause of the initial collapse and the innovative engineering that ultimately saved 33 lives. Expert commentary provides a larger context to the story and help to illuminate the specific geological challenges that hampered the rescue efforts.

It’s a story of triumph over impossible odds, set against a geological history millions of years old.
