2018 Japan Floods and Landslide - Heavy downpours in southwestern Japan resulted in widespread, devastating floods and mudflows. The floods knocked out electricity and raised concerns of unsafe drinking water, homes were washed away and people were trapped in mudslides, 225 people were killed. 2019 Cyclone Idai Mozambique - Cyclone Idai was one of the worst tropical cyclones on record to affect Africa and the Southern Hemisphere, it was ferocious and lasted 17 days causing extreme flooding and killing a massive 1,303 people. The cyclone triggered a huge humanitarian crisis with not enough food to save all those in need. 2018 Californian Wildfires - 2018 was the deadliest and most destructive wildfire season ever recorded in California, with a total of 8,527 fires burning. The extremely hot weather, coupled with very dry trees, creating dead tree fuel, as well as strong winds caused these destructive fires that left $3.5 billion of damage in their wake. 2019 Hurricane Dorian - Hurricane Dorian is the most intense tropical cyclone on record to strike the Bahamas, and is regarded as the worst natural disaster in the country's history. Intense storm conditions and 185 mph winds, caused $4.68 billion of damage.
