In Brazil’s enchanting Atlantic forest, a month old baby southern muriqui called is taking her first steps. She is one of the most endangered monkeys on the planet and lives in an equally threatened habitat. Sky’s troop play a key role in maintaining the beautiful Atlantic forest they live in by dispersing seeds far and wide and dropping fruit to forest critters below. For she must learn the ways of the muriqui from her doting mum, Mimi. From getting the hang of her extraordinary prehensile tail 70 metres up in the forest canopy to learning who is friend and who is foe, Sky’s journey towards becoming independent is an adventure like no other. 4. Coatis Nestled in the lush forest bordering the hustle and bustle of Brazil’s Campo Grande, a coati mum called Coco is introducing her newborn kittens to the exciting and dangerous mix of wild and urban habitats they call home. Thiago is the bravest of the kittens and is the first to start exploring his new found world. It’s an exciting time but he must follow the lead of his mum as their unique home is full of dangers. Life takes a sudden turn when Thiago reaches a year old. As is the way of the coati he must leave his trusty band and start hanging out with a brotherhood of young bachelors. 5. Otters Along Brazil’s Vermelho River, giant otter cub Rio and his siblings leave the safety of their den for the first time. They’ve never been in the water before, but over the next few months they need to become expert swimmers, capable of catching their own dinner, while avoiding hungry predators that roam the river. It’s up to their family to protect the cubs, and teach them the skills they’ll need to survive in this hostile wilderness. Their group will be pushed to the limits over the coming months, and if they don’t all work together then it could be fatal.
