1
The Hunter and the Hunted

Anchorage is an urban jungle where wild animals—bears, moose, and five wolfpacks—roam alongside people. As the city expands, wolves grow bolder and attacks rise, yet many locals fight to protect them. Conservation efforts, including wolf rescues and caribou breeding programs, show humans and wildlife must coexist.

2
Bear Town

Anchorage’s black bears patrol the city, drawn to easy food in bins and dumpsters each spring. As humans and bears increasingly collide, danger rises. Meanwhile, thousands of salmon return after a 3,500-mile journey, only to face brown bears fishing in the city’s waterways. With people also hunting the salmon, Anchorage becomes a tense urban battleground.

3
Urban Super Rodents

Anchorage is home to nature’s lumberjack, the beaver, whose massive dams and tree-felling feats now collide with city life, where dogs pose the biggest threat. Despite challenges, beavers adapt and one man fights to protect them. The city also shelters oversized porcupines, but many become roadkill or fall victim to curious dogs.

4
Moose on the Loose

Anchorage spends most of the year frozen, so spring and summer explode into life as animals race to make the most of the short season. But the sudden heat strains wildlife built for extreme winters. With over 2,000 moose roaming the city and 300,000 residents nearby, summer brings rising conflict, road dangers, and wild encounters. Forest fires, infestations, and aggressive animals add to the tension, yet Anchorage is determined to protect its iconic moose despite growing urban pressures.

5
City Opportunists

In Anchorage, expanding development pushes elusive lynx into the city, forcing them to adapt and increasing human encounters, often handled by nuisance officer Robert Doran. Bald eagles dominate the skies, scavenging at the city dump for survival while dodging danger. In the surrounding waters, secretive beluga whales and playful sea otters thrive in Anchorage’s unique harbour, despite threats from killer whales and eagles. As the urban jungle grows, wildlife depends on human help, and Anchorage residents remain determined to protect and coexist with their wild neighbours.
