AUSCHWITZ-BIRKENAU. Former German Nazi concentration and extermination camp. The world's largest cemetery of more than one million Jews, tens of thousands of Poles, Sinti and Roma, Soviet prisoners of war, and many others. However, this is not an ordinary museum. There is no other place where you save such items as a toothbrush, an old suitcase, or a lock of hair. It operates one of the world's most modern restoration workshops within the camp's former economic buildings.
