synopsis

Bridges of New York shows an evolution of architectural achievements through the prism of the bridges of New York City. We look at four of Manhattans landmark bridges, starting with the steel-suspension proof of concept - the soaring Brooklyn Bridge, and including the George Washington Bridge, the Bronx-Whitestone Bridge, and the ultimate curve-around-the-Earth, the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge. Bridges Of New York is a visually rich documentary revealing the engineering feats and evolution of materials that made these bridges possible. We look at the needs of the people who use the bridges, how bridges changed peoples lives, and see how the bridges fulfil the intentions of their builders.
