The figure best known from the novels of Alexander Dumas who merely copied earlier authors and completely altered the entire life and fate of this real-life character. Comte d'Artagnan's roles formed a rich tapestry of life stories: he was captain of King Louis XIV's Musketeers, an agent under the command of Cardinal Mazarin, and one of the most famous duellists in France and throughout the Europe. He was a distinguished commander of the royal troops, a loyal friend and confidant of the French monarchs. The questions of why this man became a true living legend and how his men followed him into the fiercest battles without hesitation led us to delve into the depths of his life, uncovering the full story.
