The date was January 17, 1977, the time 8:08am. After years of being deemed ''cruel and an unusual punishment'' by the courts, the death penalty in America was back. Gilmore uttered his haunting last words, ''Let's do it''. A moment of silence - and then the air shattered with the sound of rifle fire. Emmy-Award winning producer-director Lawrence Schiller shed's new light on one of the most famous executions in history and one that changed the criminal justice system for generations to come. This new documentary will look at Schiller's archives on the case, including never-before-heard recorded interviews with Gilmore, his girlfriend Nicole Baker, the widows of the two Mormon victims, prosecutors, defence attorneys and police.
