synopsis

When youve been to hell and back, how do you live with the memories? That question has haunted General Romo Dallaire since 1994, when he served as UN Force Commander during the Rwandan genocide, chronicled in the award-winning Shake Hands with the Devil. Now, Dallaire has found renewed purpose in a global mission to end the use of child soldiersone of the gravest human rights crises of our time. Will he succeed where others have failed, or once again witness the world turn away? This film explores the tragedy of stolen childhoods through Dallaires uniquely compelling lens. We follow him to the frontlines of Africa, including the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan, as he meets former child soldiers and their commanders, soldier to soldier, driven by experience, conviction and an unbroken will to act. Director: Patrick Reed, Executive Producers: Peter Raymont & Janice Dawe. There is also a feature length version available of this film.
