Amidst a brutally polarized debate marked by passion, suspicion and confusion, FOOD EVOLUTION, directed by Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Scott Hamilton Kennedy, explores the controversy surrounding GMOs and food. Narrated by science communicator Neil deGrasse Tyson, the film travels from Hawaiian papaya groves to banana farms in Uganda and cornfields in Iowa, confronting the emotions and science driving one of todays most heated arguments. Both pro- and anti-GMO camps claim science supports their view, but FOOD EVOLUTION shows how easily misinformation, fear and confusion can overwhelm objective analysis. It asks the urgent questions: how do we ensure a safe food supply while feeding a growing world population and protecting the planet? Has genetic engineering increased or decreased pesticide use, and are GMO foods harmful to health?
