synopsis
Widely unappreciated, rats have greatly contributed to human wellbeing over the years. From biomedical research to locating unexploded landmines, the profound input of certain rats has earned them the title of heroes. APOPO trains rats to detect such dangers to help save lives. Their potential has been noticed by conservation organisations, who with APOPO, have launched a pilot project aiming to train rats to detect the scent of the worlds most trafficked mammal - the pangolin.
