synopsis

Hundreds of rhino species once roamed the Earth, but today only five remain, and British wildlife presenter Nigel Marven travels the globe to find them and meet the scientists fighting to save them. He begins in Africa with the approachable white rhino, then joins a research team tagging black rhinos in South Africa, where conservation efforts are beginning to boost numbers. Rhino horn poaching continues to devastate populations, despite no evidence of any medicinal benefit. Nigel then heads to Assam to track the one-horned Asian rhino, ventures into dense forest for the elusive Javan rhino, and finally visits the rainforests of Sumatra to seek the smallest, hairiest species of all.
