Nigel Marven wants to meet giant pandas. With unique access to the Wolong National Nature Reserve, hell get closer than any other presenter to these charismatic animals; the Reserve is a stronghold for over a hundred pandas. Nigel will follow the breeding programme- tailing a pregnant mother as she gives birth to two cubs and watching over several months as she raises them. Nigel has a second goal: to get alongside totally wild pandas and the animals they share the bamboo forest with. The host comes face-to-face with red pandas high in the forest canopy, dives with a six-foot salamander, leaps to avoid a charging takin antelope, watches breathless as jousting golden pheasants fill the forest with colour, stalks a black bear and joins a 600-strong gathering of Golden snub-nosed monkeys.
