synopsis
A haunting call echoes across Zambia’s Liuwa Plain, unanswered for years. Lady Liuwa, the last surviving lioness of the region, lives without a pride, forced to defend her own survival after illegal trophy hunting erased her kind. For four years, cameraman Herbert Brauer documents her solitary existence, bearing witness to an extraordinary bond formed through isolation. Yet he knows he cannot replace what she has lost. In May 2009, a daring plan emerges to reintroduce a male lion. For the first time in years, hope stirs that Lady Liuwa may no longer be alone on her ancestral grasslands once more.
