Episode Information

My Octopus Teacher is the story of award-winning Producer/Director Craig Foster, who, after years of swimming daily in the freezing ocean at the tip of Africa, meets an unlikely teacher: a young octopus who displays remarkable curiosity. Visiting her den and tracking her movements for months on end, he wins the animals trust and they develop a unique bond between human and wild animal. Featuring never-before-seen behaviour and heart wrenching scenes, Craig captures the life of a wild sea creature in a manner that has not been done before. The film was directed by Pippa Ehrlich and James Reed and filmed by award-winning natural history cinematographer, Roger Horrocks.

My Octopus Teacher is the 2021 winner of the Best Documentary Feature Award at the Acadamey Awards (OSCAR's), the winner of the Best documentary at the British Academy Film Awards (BAFTA's) and the Winner of the Grand Teton Award of the Jackson Wild Media Awards, amongst a host of other awards.
