Episode Information

The Central Apennines Mountains in Italy is the last refuge for one of the planet’s rarest creatures: the Marsican Brown Bear. But these charismatic animals are on the brink of extinction with fewer than 60 individuals left. A patchwork of villages surround the bears’ remaining protected areas but with such limited feeding territory, the bears have no option but to raid the surrounding communities for food. Residents are losing patience and it’s only a matter of time before something regrettable happens. Mario Cipollone and his team are working against the odds to find solutions to ensure peaceful co-existence.
