We have a complex relationship with polar bears. One of the most loved creatures in the world, we see them as cute and funny but at the same time as dangerous top predators. One of the few that might actually hunt us. They are the ultimate icons of polar wilderness and have become figureheads for climate change and conservation. One thing is for sure, the lives of polar bears are nothing short of remarkable.

While polar bear males are undisputed lords of the ice, the females are probably the toughest! While males gorge on seal blubber, females are hidden in dens under the snow. For the entire five months of winter she will have no food or water, sacrificing everything to nurture her guinea pig sized babies into the world. The cubs will have to grow up fast if they are to reach adulthood and take their place as icons of the arctic.
