episode description
In this episode, we interweave two dramatic tales involving deadly crevasses. In the first, Canadian Mounties Ken Putnam and Kirk Gale are on snowmobile patrol in one of Canada's enormous national parks. Leaving the track, thinking that someone may be in trouble ahead, they drive onto an unstable glacier. Ken pulls out his camera, steps out, and plunges into the ice. In the other story, two outdoors enthusiasts, and novice climbers have planned a mountain top wedding on the icy Mount Rainier. After a morning of close calls, including avalanches, white outs, and altitude sickness, they’re less than 2500ft from the summit when Melody is blown off her feet by a gust of wind and begins to slide toward a gaping crevasse in the glacier. We interweave both stories, dissecting the good and bad choices the victims made, and ultimately reveal who survived to tell the tale.
