Episode Information

They bring us joy, they make us laugh. The world is their stage. Barbary macaques are up to mischief in Gibraltar, pickpocketing unwary tourists at lightning speed. Funny? Yes – if you’re not the victim! Their relatives, the Japanese macaques, are much more laid back, relaxing neck-deep in the steamy pools of Japan’s natural hot springs. Their bright pink, wizened faces resemble those of old men who have spent one too many hours in the hot tub! On Ellesmere Island in the Canadian Arctic, filmmakers are witnessing some pretty crazy behaviour, the wolves there have found a cameraman’s lost cellphone, now they’re playing football with it. Social media for canids. They make us laugh, they make us smile, and they make us wonder. Especially when they turn up in unexpected places. Like quirky little droll penguins that toddle over the sandy beaches of South Africa. Shouldn’t they be somewhere a little, well, cooler? And then there’s the one about the luxury tourist lodge accidently built on a highway – an elephant highway. Now holiday makers get to have a wild experience without having to step outside. And if they do? Maybe the elephants will have the last laugh.
