Zoo Vets: Tails, Teeth And Snouts (Series 1)
1 x 60'
Come behind-the-scenes for a look at what it takes to care for a collection of animals as vast and diverse as that housed at the Smithsonian National Zoo.
It takes a team of veterinarians, curators, scientists and keepers to watch over the roughly 2,000 creatures, but the ultimate responsibility for their medical care belongs to a team of veterinarians lead by Dr Suzan Murray. These skilled, dedicated, experts are constantly challenged by their exotic charges and they draw on keepers, outside experts, technology, and improvisation to treat them.
We follow Rokan tiger’s root canal operation, clawed Asian otter Mick’s kidney stone woes, and Maureen sea lion’s mysterious illness – which the vets know needs a quick resolution.
