Episode Information

One of the most powerful yet elusive animals on the planet, we follow one male to reveal the secret life of the jaguar.

The jaguar is the third biggest cat on the planet, and kilo for kilo is the most powerful of all of them. A nomad by nature, he patrols a home range of over one hundred square kilometres. His home is deep in the heart of the Pantanal in Brazil, the world’s largest tropical rainforest. His territory is teaming with wildlife for him to eat, and he will happily take anything from pig-like peccaries to tapirs, despite them weighing three times more than he does!

But every year life for his kind gets tougher. Despite being the strongest cat and top predator in his territory, modern challenges and human interference ensure that his future is fraught with danger. The jaguar needs its rainforest, and the jungle needs its king.
