Episode Information

Christmas, the most wonderful time of the year. Parties, decorations and prayers; but give a thought to nature. In fact many animals are celebrated in our thoughts over Christmas.

Christmas tradition, symbolism and history are full of characters from the natural world. As we all know Jesus’ heavily pregnant mother, Mary, was ferried on the back of a donkey. There is perhaps no animal more closely bound to Christmas as the reindeer. No image of Santa is complete without a team of them pulling his sleigh. And what Christmas would be complete without perhaps the favourite bird of Christmas? The iconic robin red breast.

But the changing climate is threatening their existence. By keeping wildlife in our thoughts and limit our impact on the environment we can safeguard their future and secure their place on our Christmas cards for years to come.
