Episode Information

One of the most elusive animals roaming the wilderness, the ghost cat is full of surprises. Adaptable and resilient, these cats dictate a precarious cycle of life with the creatures who share their home.

In the cold, inhospitable mountains of Chile, two thousand metres above sea level, a single mother raises her three cubs. In less than a year they will be fending for themselves in this unfriendly landscape; they must learn the skills that will keep them alive.

Pumas are the protectors of this landscape. They prevent large plant eating mammals over-grazing the mountains and bringing sustenance to the other creatures that scavenge their unwanted scraps. If these three cubs can learn to survive on their own, they will join their mother as guardians of the mountains, passing on their knowledge to the next generation of ghost cats.
