Episode Information

The Lion, Africa’s ultimate predator. An essay in power, agility and beauty, famed for the mane, their cut-throat gang and the killer instinct. Lions are known as the kings of the jungle yet their homeland is an open grassland rather than rainforest. Jungle or not, there is no doubt that on the savanna they reign supreme. In the African plains prey-rich real estate can be hard to come by, and lions work together to ensure no one claims their territory and usurps their crown.

Despite their lofty title lions aren’t always the biggest, fastest or strongest animals on the plains. But they are often one of the most successful, making up for it with unique skills: stealth, teamwork and the strength of the pride. Kings and queens of the savanna, with the pride working together there is little doubt that on the African grasslands, lions rule!
