Mission Critical: Amphibian Rescue
1 x 60'
Amphibians are our planet’s great survivors. On earth long before the dinosaurs, frogs have adapted to thrive in almost every extreme. But species by species, these glorious, agile creatures are vanishing. A deadly fungus called chytrid is sweeping the globe. Stealthy and swift, its reach extends to untouched habitats, home to some of the world’s greatest biodiversity.
Like something from a science fiction horror film, the fast-moving fungus spreads through water and can infect an area in just days.
The last resort is of biblical proportion - building amphibian arks to house the world’s 500 most threatened amphibian species. On a hilltop in Panama, a biosecure converted shipping container waits to protect the founding fathers and mothers of the post-chytrid era. The goal is a breeding colony of Panamanian Mountain Harlequin Frogs – but first they need to be caught.
