Following the flow of Myanmar's timeless Irrawaddy River right through the center of this most vivid of Asian countries, we’ll experience some of the most sacred Buddhist sites on earth and encounter local tribes and peoples whose costumes and cultures have survived for a thousand years. Crossing into Laos and using the mighty Mekong River to get our bearings, we’ll explore every corner of Laos from the magical Phonsavan waterfalls to its ancient and mysterious Plain of Jars. Moving down river we’ll enter Cambodia and explore Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious structure. We’ll then end our exploration of Southeast Asia in the Kingdom of Thailand at the truly breathtaking Khao Sok National Park.

This week on Navigating the World we explore Eastern Australia as we journey down the east coast exploring in rich detail the Great Barrier Reef. Above and below the water this is truly one of the world's most precious natural habitats. From its stunning emerald islands to its vivid white sand beaches. Beyond the reef we’ll journey to the ancient and epic sandstone valleys of Blue Mountains and cruise the streets of Sydney, one of the world's most exciting and iconic cities. And we’ll explore a region of Australia that proves Aboriginal people have lived here for 45,000 years .

Home to the mythical Kimberly ranges and the incredible Ningaloo reef, where we will encounter the largest fish species on Planet earth, the Whale Shark. Next, we navigate our way down along the west coast encountering some of the most exotic animals on the planet and some of Australia's most isolated and pristine natural habitats. Including the totally unique Rottnest Island, a place of immense natural beauty, rich history and home to one of Australia's most cherished marsupials, the Quokka.

Beginning with the wet season in the world-famous Kakadu National Park - one of the most important wetland habitats on earth. Finally, we’ll explore one of the most mystical landforms to be found anywhere on earth, the truly epic Uluru, a mesmerizing rock monolith at the center of Australia.
Navigating the World explores Australia's incredible southern regions. Beginning our journey with the stunning scenery of the Great Australian Bight, we then journey eastward to Kangaroo Island, one of the most unique environments in Southern Australia, and then we travel back to the mainland and the red rock magic of the Flinders Ranges. Next, we explore the Cape Otway National Park and then cross the fury of Bass Strait to explore Tasmania's Tarkine wilderness, before a four-day journey south of Tasmania brings us face to face with huge colonies of penguins on the Sub Antarctic outpost of Macquarie Island.
Navigating the World explores two of Western Oceania's most stunning islands. Beginning on Lord Howe Island, we’ll encounter plants and animals so rare the island was inscribed on the World Heritage List in 1982. Next, we travel to New Zealand's western reaches, making landfall at the spectacular volcano Mt Taranaki on New Zealand's North Island, and journey south traversing the stunning glaciers of New Zealand's west by air. Explore Mt Cook, the highest peak in New Zealand, lord of the southern Alps. Culminating our journey in Milford Sound, a breathtaking Fiordland of mountainous peaks, immense waterfalls, and Māori legends.
In this episode we begin our journey in Vanuatu. Greeted in a time-honored tradition by local warriors on the island of Espiritu Santo, we learn about ‘Water Music’. A hypnotic form of female storytelling that symbolizes Vanuatuan women’s relationship with the ocean. We’ll also explore Norfolk Island's dark colonial history. But of all the islands of Oceania, New Zealand has some of the deepest connections to the great Polynesian migration and was the last major landmass on Earth to be settled by humans. Join us as we take a deep dive into the North Islands epic history and scenery.
Navigating the World explores one of the most interesting regions of Oceania, the south of New Zealand. Beginning our journey on the Otago Peninsula on the South Islands east coast, we’ll encounter an incredible colony of Albatross and home to 10,000 seabirds. Then we’ll experience Queenstown, the country's epicenter of outdoor adventure. From bungee jumping to jet boating, there are many ways to explore this part of southern New Zealand and none of them are dull. Lastly, we end our journey in the Fiordland National Park, one of New Zealand’s treasured natural icons and a UNESCO world heritage site.
In this final episode of Navigating the World, journey through the eastern regions of Oceania beginning in Samoa, the cradle of Polynesia. Exploring the rugged coasts of its largest island Savaii and the spectacular Taga blowholes, then to the east we circumnavigate its most populated island Upolu - where locals dance with fire and knives in a traditional display of a warrior’s strength. Beyond Samoa we journey to the islands of Fiji, harvesting ripe coconuts and venturing deep into the interior exploring the Sigatoka River. Journeying further south we return to New Zealand or Aotearoa as it is known by native Māori people.
