RIDE OF YOUR LIFE Episode Descriptions Episode 1 — Dedrick’s Grand Slam Dedrick was forced to sell his ‘87 Grand National when his father died unexpectedly at a young age. Dedrick became the patriarch of the family and had to sideline his own dreams to take care of his four brothers and sisters. He is now known in his community for always giving back—he owns a body shop and frequently does free and discounted work for folks in need. We surprised Dedrick with an ‘87 Grand National built by ROYL Garage. The elaborate prank/presentation took place at the historic Marietta Square outside of Atlanta. His entire family came out for the big reveal and it was an epic, unforgettable day. There’s also a heartwarming spin with the story of the man who donated the car for us to build.
We customized a rusted out 1978 F150 for Derek, a man who battles early onset Parkinson’s in his early 40s. His grandfather had a classic F150 and he had hoped to keep it forever as a family heirloom. Unfortunately, Derek had to sell it during hard times and has always dreamed of getting it back. We built a killer ‘78 F150 that embraces the classic aesthetic but is totally modernized. Derek is an outdoorsman who loves fishing, hunting, and camping—this truck allows him to do it all. We revealed it to him in Charlotte at NASCAR champion, Joey Logano’s car collection. Joey was there for the surprise.
We built a killer 1969 Camaro for Jeremy, a young man who dedicates his life to running marathons for cancer charities and veterans. He has had a picture of his old Camaro hanging above his work bench for 20 years—a car he was forced to sell to pay for college. His father was extremely obese and on the path to having a heart attack that could have cost his life. Jeremy saved his father by steering him into a healthy lifestyle and getting him to run 10K‘s and marathons with him. We reveal the Camaro to Jeremy at Whiskey Row in Nashville, with country music legend Neal McCoy and rising country star Casee Allen helping us with the ruse. That duo also performs their new country hit, Blame It All On My Roots , which is being released in conjunction with the series.
Bill Adams had a one-of-one 1969 Road Runner convertible, the only four-speed ‘69 convertible ever built in Petty Blue. He was forced to sell the car to pay for medical expenses for his autistic son who has been battling leukemia. We reached out to the Mopar community and Angel donors stepped up and donated the vehicle to build for Bill and Luke Adams—it is a very touching story. Our team was nervous about building a one-of-one car, so we brought in Mopar experts to help our team. The Road Runner is stunning and Courtney Hansen was recently featured on the cover of Mopar magazine with it. The reveal took place at one of the biggest car shows in the country: Muscle Cars At The Strip in Las Vegas.

She devotes her life to giving within her church and community and regularly buys clothes and toys for children in need. Terri is obsessed with Mustangs but was forced to sell hers when she got pregnant with her son Taylor—an unexpected surprise after being told she couldn’t have children. Terri Dee parted ways with her Mustang in order to provide for her son. We reunite her with the most badass Fox Body built by ROYL Garage at Atlanta Motorsports Park in Dawsonville, Georgia. A professional race car driver, Tyler Speer, joins us at the reveal to take Terri for a proper hot lap around the track in her new pony.
We built this 1973 VW Super Beetle for a woman named Neesa. She founded two charities—one helps former prisoners get back on their feet, and another is an educational charity that benefits children. She was forced to sell her VW to pay for college and has longed to get another one ever since. Her friend James submitted her story— and we loved it. We revealed the VW to her at the Cruisin’ The Coast car show in the Mississippi Gulf Coast, which is the biggest outdoor car show in the country. The mayor of Gulfport came out and handed the keys to Neesa in a special moment. Her VW was named Meadow Lark, so her new ROYL Garage-built VW shares the same name..

He worked at the Indy 500 museum for 30 years, losing eight of his fingers in a tragic garage accident there. We built him a stunning ‘67 Chevelle convertible—the dream version of what he had. His daughter, who was eight months pregnant at the time of this build, was the accomplice. She is still connected with the museum and lured him there by asking if he could help her move a car. We surprised him with the Chevelle beyond his wildest dreams at the Indy 500 speedway during the famous race weekend. His whole family was there and piled into the convertible as Terry did a burnout and drove off into the sunset.
We built the 1965 GTO convertible for Rob, a navy veteran who was a black aces pilot from Panama City Beach, Florida. We revealed it to him at the famous FloraBama bar on the Florida/Alabama border. It’s a unique episode because his neighbor submitted his story. Rob had to part ways with the GTO years ago when times got tough, and he talks about it daily to his friends and neighbors. He used to park his gorgeous GTO in a special, front row space dedicated to him at the famous bar. Of course, we parked his new GTO, built by ROYL Garage, in that exact memorable space while surprising him in an epic reveal. The mayor of Orange Beach came out to join us.

In doing so, he had to sell his beloved classic cars, his favorite being the El Camino. His son Eric submitted his story, and we were immediately drawn to this quintessential American dream story . Americo ’s El Camino looks like a Hot Wheels car with the most killer black and gold paint job, an interior to match, and a massive engine with blowers coming out of the hood. It is revealed to him in an epic setting at the Ferris Wheel in downtown Atlanta.

She is an extraordinary woman who takes care of others round the clock, but she has no car. We built LaQuell a Chevy truck just like the one her late father used to have, in which they shared many fond memories. We also went wild with this one and painted it a unique shade of pink—LaQuell’s favorite color. In this episode, we got to know the accomplice, LaQuelle’s best friend, quite well and decided to surprise her with a car too! You’ll have to tune in next week to see how her special story unfolds. We spun the story into a double giveback and built a 2008 Escalade for Miriam, the accomplice of the Chevy Square Body episode. Miriam, a caregiver saving lives, has been through the unimaginable loss of two children, yet she continues to stay positive, help others, and give back. In addition to being active with her community and church, she helped found a support group for those grieving losses. Miriam shared her deep, heartfelt story during the drive to get to know her best friend LaQuell. She shared that her own vehicle had broken down after putting more than 300,000 kilometres on it, yet here she was making the case for her friend to receive a car. We realized Miriam was equally deserving and decided to build her a beautiful 2008 Escalade. Seeing as how we suddenly had two cars to build in the same period of time, we decided to do our first wrap and give the Cadillac a gorgeous classic black and white two-tone look. While this is part of the double reveal at the drive-in theater, it is its own stand- alone episode.

A phenomenal human being, he also produces documentaries about ocean pollution and the holocaust. Leah, his now wife, submitted his story and we naturally gravitated to it. ROYL Garage made history with this Bronco—it was the first time Ford’s Godzilla engine went into a classic Bronco, a nearly impossible feat. Our team did it, and the Bronco is out of control badass! It was invited to be in Ford’s booth at the 2021 Sema Show in Las Vegas, a tremendous honor! We revealed it to Todd in his hometown—gorgeous Sun Valley, Idaho.
